Teen sailor Abby Sunderland missing on controversial voyage

Abby Sunderland, the 16-year-old California girl who wanted to become one of the youngest persons to sail solo around the world, has lost contact with her land-based crew, according to news reports.

Sunderland, who is in the Indian Ocean between southern Africa and Australia, set off her emergency locating devices early this morning in the midst of a storm and hasn't been heard from since.
